With very little encouragement I volunteered myself to be a support runner for a friend in a local fun run. We had a lot of fun, the distance was 3.6 k’s, I didn’t do any training or actually break out of a jog into a run, but it felt so good to be back out on the roads running. The last time I went for a short run was a few years ago and it nearly killed me. I guess with all of the squash, cycling and regular trips to the gym that my fitness has improved. At the end I felt pumped and even had a little cool down jog on the way back to the car. We had fun and next year I might consider running either a longer distance or actually putting some training and pace into my run. My preferred distance has always been 1.6 k’s.
